with Wendy Cowley
The ordinary pencil is a wonderful tool for lettering. The number of techniques that graphite can be used for is large. We will be looking at two techniques. In the first we will be drawing letters with pencil and then shading them for effect. In the second we will start with a ground of graphite and by using an eraser and then a pencil we will make our letters pop.
- Mechanical pencil (with a good eraser on the end) or a sharp HB pencil with eraser
- Pencil Sharpener
- (If you have a Pentel Clic eraser or a MONO eraser bring them – don’t purchase them for the program.)
- A broad brush for brushing off eraser crumbs is useful
- Paper (Bond paper will work, but a slightly thicker paper with a smooth surface would be nice. A rough surface works too, but it can give a quite different effect)
