WITH SHERRY AND WENDY
Please join Wendy and Sherry and learn about the history of weather grams and then make one. All materials will be supplied including the ink. Please bring a writing tool of your choice and a container to hold your ink and a loading brush.
Advance planning: Try writing a ten word or less poem that is generally seasonal or nature related – of course it can be on any topic you like.
There will be a list of poems that you can choose from so don’t worry about having to write one.
Black and Vermillion Sumi will be supplied. Please bring a pen that can be dipped AND/OR Black and Red Felt Pens.
Paper will be supplied.
Have you ever wondered what is the best pointed pen nib for you? Join Wendy at this “Round the Table” session prior to the February meeting. She will have many different pointed nibs for you to try plus a handy chart to keep track of them! This session is FREE, but is limited to the number of people that can fit around a table or two. Please e-mail Wendy if you are going to come.
Dr, Kwakkel is a professor at UBC and will show us how he has examined
medieval letter forms and traced their development over time. Dr. Kwakkel
was previously at the University of Victoria and has done similar talks for the
Fairbank Society. This promises to be an illuminating talk.
Thanks to our member Merilee Hughes for making the contact with Dr.
Kwakkel and coordinating this exciting talk for us.
